Hey 300exster, don't worry about what bs.others say about the "MIGHTY DS" If you happy with it that all that should matter.
But as far as comparing the DS to a TRX250r is kinda like comparing Apples to Oranges {in my opnion}Ds 4 stroke,R 2stroke,DS wider, etc.I have drag raced OTHER 250rs and won on the DS,..Don't know how the Rs were set-up.Have never raced my R against my DS..would be interesting but the Ds would probably win{my R is set-up for bottom end}due its ability to pull hard in fourth & fifth gears & is said to be able reach a higher MPH.
The 87 R has stock suspension..not in tip top condition so I really enjoy the suspension of the DS and sometimes I ride a practice track & I favor the Ds{for now maybe until 86R is done} even if is heavier cause I shift less & feel more stable, comfortable & I love JUMPING the Ds ..much better landings on Ds than a worned out stock R suspension.
Having the DS & The Rs I feel like I have the best of both worlds.
Which machine I get out of garage depends on what kind of riding I plan to do that day.I like the the DS just fine for woods riding.. again the great adjustable suspenion & long wheel base & width can be aplus on the right trails.. does not fatigue me as much as the R does.
