many of you know i have electrical issues...anyway

when the DS does its click..click thing and wont start it will popstart and run fine as long as i dont shut it off....does this hurt the bike? running on a dead battery a bad thing?

 

I am not sure but I do know that my husbands DS wouldn't run if the battery was dead or unhooked. Unless he jumped it and it would run for a little bit and then die again. And that was when the crappy cheap CDI killed his rectifier. It could be something else. I will try unhooking his battery tomorrow while it is running and see if it still runs with everything working right.

Nope, shouldnt hurt a thing. But if it runs fine the battery is good. You need to look elsewhere. IMO

 

Have you tried the subframe ground we were talking about earlier in the week?

 

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I would have concerns of possibly doing harm to the charging system if you were to do that.

 

havent done the subframe ground yet.....doing it tonight or tomorrow..

had a big ride planned already and the outy 800 blew the water pump gasket and is back ordered....so i need to ride the DS....

It won't run without the battery hooked up. Maybe so you don't do harm to the electrical system I am not sure but it just don't work. Not on an 00' or an 02'.
I hope you figure it out.
