another gearing question

9k in 3rd is my goal... I do not know what ill hit as far as MPH, This calculation is usually spot on for banshee hill which is steeper than pismo... Maybe 4th for a lighter pilot... but I doubt it.

Sonny-I agree loseing 3 mph... I have never ran the flats that much. But If it is not as steep as banshee hill we can assure 4 th gear with same gearing, Or dropp to the 22s and ring 4th out.

30 ft incline? Holy crap, is anyone going to bring oxygen for me to run the high?LOL!!
If we are not hitting fourth, we loose. Mario, what would the gearing need to be to run fourth gear, 9000 rpm at the end of 450'? Can we get low enough? Gear it low enough and I'll pull third gear starts if that clutch will hold. We are just going to have to try a couple different setups. Does anyone have a radar gun? Or should I bring my cheapy one?

30ft incline..lol
Yes we can pull 4th. But remember Jed, Beech is talking about the super fast bikes. I will be happy to hit 70-72.. I dont know. I know I wont run with dutras drag bike it comes out of the hole like a rabbit. I think beech was running 63-64 on my bike on a 2-300ft incline maybe more... So that should put us well. What do you think beech? OH and add over 13 peak hp and 20 at 8500rpm.

i had a nice gun til my old man's ex-wife took it from my house...lol so you better bring your own. i bought another one but it wont be here til monday unless i next day it.
i would tell you to gear it until you are out of rpm at the top of 4th in 450ft

Well i definitely got plenty of information.I may not be set up to run quite as fast as some of you but the top end of third gear on my Baja on our drag hill is moving right along.I was going to go with the ultralight tires but after thinking about how little drag racing i do as compared to duning i went with 22" 10 paddle regular haulers.I also got the lightened hubs so that i can run the 8"wheel and between the lightened hubs and the somewhat lighter than my extremes haulers i should be saving maybe 5 lbs total rotating mass and that should help some.I will try the 15-40 gearing again this wekend to make sure that i want to change because it sounds like as long as i am not bogging on take off i should be alright with the 15-40.This stock bore really jumps off the line now that i have a +4" swingarm.I did lose to a couple of fast banshees last weekend as you would expect but i am having fun showing up at the drag hill with my stock looking DS and making a strong showing.I have always been able to find at least a couple of quad lengths gain in performance by tweaking here and there and that is where i am now so if anyone has anything they are willing to give up that may help i would like to hear it.Does anyone know how much weight is saved with the HPR lightened hubs for the DS?
