Proper tuning and timing we did a 111 mile trip sat and i even hit the noss.I have alway's ran 14-1 pistons even in my 400ex air cooled opps that don't count it was on alcahol.

I run 14/1s in a couple of mine and love them. I run a Boondockers on one of them and have had good luck with it. I only run alcohol on my quads. I would do the 14 first then the NOS or hey both is good

come on AZ, pump gas with 14:1, you're a funny guy most of the time so what gives, give us the punch line.

It is possible to run 14:1 on pump gas but the sacrifices of either huge cam overlap, retarded timing or reducing cylinder pressure in whatever way to keep the heat from building to quickly causing preignition will lose you more power than the tight squeeze will gain you. To avoid the heat generated by compression that establishes octane requirement, you have to find ways to bleed off cylinder pressure.

IMHO you would be better off to run a 11:1 piston on premium with good cams and porting so as to build good cylinder pressure than you would be to runa 14:1 piston on premium that requires you to bleed off cylinder pressure just to run that fuel.

My $0.02 for whatever it's worth.

Ok Choose, 14-1, 110 race fuel, how much nitrous are they pushing? In other words, how big of a shot?

Choose has it right. Yes, you can run both. Why not? The HP gain you get out of nitrous will not be quite as much when using a 14:1, but still right up there.

Mike,

Im seeing Chuck today and I'll be in Florence the 13th, 14th and 15th at Goosepasture.

Mark

Chuck may think i am nuts to have a new piston put in since i just had this motor done but i think that
a 14:1 may help me out on the hill.I will probably do both Nitrous and a piston eventually but it is looking like 14:1 may be the best thing to do first. We will probably be at Florence next weekend as well and we will look for you.I think you might be impressed with what my stock bore is doing especially considering that i have a stock pipe with the ODP disced end cap which by the way works very well. When i pull up with my stock looking pipe i think some may be fooled into thinking that i must be slow, wrong.
