Aluminum Radiator Shrouds

[i]Originally posted by: [b]DSNUT One question though, do they really make Ortho for kids? Don't they grow fast enough as it is? lol
It's kinda like when you go up to these mountain resorts and stumble into the little antique shops and see a duck made out of nuts and bolts for $30. You tell yourself "I could make that for free". Sure you could, but would you?

I have 6 sets with hardware in the shop... not polished... you still use the stock radiator guard.. my shrouds will also work with the larger aftermarket radiators. if you want to see a set look at my pics.

check here they might have what you are looking for but the shrouds don't look like they stick out far like other brands.

that sux that ct quit making the shrouds. i got my set from them for only 70.00 bucks and the fit and finish was perfect. i had my set powdercoated silver vein to match all the other stuff on my quad. too bad all these guys are getting raped with these jacked up prices.

Wow there is a differance in material and labor quality i have seen both sets and gee i wonder why ct quit making them ill bet if you called and told them they could get 150 a set that would motivate them again.Get over the price thing that was then this is now.And so you know i have more tooling than anyone on here press brakes,Rollers, sheers,Notchers,Lathes,End mills,Plasma cutter, stud welders, mag drills.iron workers, mig &tig welders, arc welder, semi's,tiltdeck transporters, forklifts from1500lb-55,000lbs.scissorlifts 15-45',boomlifts 30-125',skid steers,Reach forks-23-42 and the list gose on for a long time and yet i see no reason to make them if i can buy them for 140.00

If Kelly at KMS is selling them for $140 for polished shrouds then that is what he has to sell them at to make it worth his time, plain and simple. The cost of the aluminum used isn't likely to be much, but the tools and time it takes to make such a thing is the largest cost. If he is the only one making them, and you want them, and he figures $140 is what he needs to sell them at to justify his time spent making them - that ends it. I work for myself and I have minimum amounts that I work for myself - anything less and it just isn't worth it as a business, not when I can do other jobs that will pay much much more.
If you don't like the $140, then you'll have to make them yourself - if you have the tools to do so, great - then you'll spend like $10 in aluminum and have yourself a party. It sucks to know that we COULD have bought them for $70, heck the ones I have were had at $60 for the pair, but now that price is gone. When I decide I want to buy a pair, I'll have no problem ordering a set from KMS for that price point - keep in mind that Kelly is a good guy and giving money to good hard working Americans is much better than giving half as much to some Mega-Conglomerate company that makes everything in China. I'd pay double for a quality American made product over some cheap production trash made in China. That being said, not all Americans are able to produce quality products, but that is another story. Good news is Kelly is able to.
bombrider04,
The web site you liked to had some nice looking stuff. The aluminum airbox actually looks better than the other unit I have seen. This one doesn't have a box tube replacement to the air duct that connects the box to the carburetor so the factory tapered connector is still used. This should provide the advantages of an aluminum airbox without the disadvantage of the very poor air flow that will be a part of the box tube setup I saw on the other unit.

ya know i have been on the forum for long enough to know who is who and who has thin skin. azsand you are that guy. relax dude... seriously i have never seen someone pop off on the defensive as much as you. ct made good shrouds. perod. fit and finish as well as the polished ones they produced. anyway this forum is about opinions and for a product a guy can make in his garage from a sheet of aluminum i think 140-150 bucks is robbery. see now there is a thing called a monopoly. i would have to say that is what allows people to charge such a price. did anyone overlook the fact that we are talking about a piece of bent aluminum. for gods sakes do yours have stealth technology built in? if people pay it, then keep collecting, but relax and enjoy it rather than feel like your being personally attacked.

Umm the cost with shipping was $133.00 comes with shrouds (polished) and some nice brackets (Thick) ones, and hardware, hey its a few extra bucks, but I was told the benifits off cooling would offset the cost, I was going for the ODP H2O water pump, but thought this was a better way to go, if my cooling becomes a problem then ill go with the Pump or a larger radiator next.
