Default Head Light????

I crashed/rolled the bomb braking the head lamp and bracket among other things. I've heard that the new head lamp(04-06) will work in the later models. Is this true? Is the wiring the same? I ask because the new lamp has 2 bulbs vs. the older models which has 1.

your question is confusing. are you asking if the later headlight will work in earlier models? because you asked if the 04-06 headlight will work in later models. anyway the later headlight is much smaller and wont fill the whole in the plastic of the earlier model bikes. you would have about a 1 inch air gap all the way around the outside.

just get the trim like the new bajas have around the light and it should fit as long as the wiring is the same but im not sure on that one I just ordered a new lamp and mine is fine.

The newer style headlight will fit and the fixture with all the brackets is cheaper than the older style, so it makes sense to make the switch. The wiring harness is not the same but you can make some pig tails easily with some short pieces of wire and flat blade connection on both ends, or you can just solder flat blade connects onto the fixture itself... that is what I did. The new light is will not fit without some cutting of the front facia plastics. There is a gap around the edges but the front needs to be trimmed. I did the conversion and I'm pretty happy with it.
