Top End from changing sprockets?
#1
I am not used to how the ds650x is geared. Its just different from past quads. When im in small area's in 2nd every now and then i will kill it.Because im not in the meat of the gear yet,low rpm's.Its my fault it just needs to have room when im on the trails.Seems like 1st is to short and 2nd is to high for putting around. So heres my question if i drop a tooth in the front sprocket how much top end will i loose. If that is not the answer then what do you recomend (rev box ect.)Thanks!

At 7900 rpm, for each tooth reduction on the front sprocket is a loss of 5 mph.
Thus:
If you have a 16 tooth - top speed is 78mph.
If you have a 15 tooth - top speed is 73mph.
If you ride trails or tight area's 15 tooth is highly recommended.

I would rather buy an inexpensive gear and change more often.

I got a expensive sprocket specialists sprocket for 60 or more...yea crazy anyhow now i buy the cheap ones at around 30 or so and they last just as long if LONGER so dont waste money on expensive sprockets.
