DS starting problem
#1
Hi.
I recently put a different intake on my DS & kinda pinched those plastic covered black wires that run by it. Not bad though, not even ripping the covering. Anyway now my DS starts funny. In neutral it won't crank. I have to pull the clutch in (while in Neutral) , then it starts. Does one of those wires run to the clutch lever override? I didn't think I pinched it that bad. I hope it at least continues to start with the clutch in!
thanks

I cut and spliced the clutch level override on mine... do you still have yours connected? If you have to pull in your clutch then you probably still have it connected... put out the connection on the clutch and put a jumper between the terminals (to simulate the clutch being pulled in) if that works then you will know that your wires are good up to there. If not I would check the color of the wires at the lever, and also at the point where you crushed the wires. If its the same wires I would splice them where you crushed them.
Just my $.02. Good Luck!

I would have to agree that its the wires becuase when on my hydraulic clutch I can change the wires around and one time it will not start until I pull in the clutch lever and then when I switch them around again it will start without pulling in the clutch. When I have to pull in the lever its like the lever acts as a switch and won't let the electricity flow unless I pull it in. I would just check the wires from the clutch back maybe you pulled a wire off the male connector a little.
