look on page 3 for another post by me about a sputtering problem. the problem is i am a mechanical idiot, and i am broke. my ds keeps crapping out on me. starts backfiring and i cant ride it. all i want to do at the moment is sell it. i know it isn't an expensive fix, but i just want something else. something a little smaller.

 

well I am having a porb with my carb at this moment and if you adjust the pilot screw you should be able to make it stop backfiring the pilot screw if you take off the tube from the airfilter and look inside the carb there are 2 little holes and the hole on the left has the pilot jet just try turning that and see if there is any difference and keep it running and rev it to see if that helps...I didn't read the other post but from backfiring thats what it sounds like to me or if you look at the headers mine had bad gaskets and it would backfire but once i got the new seals and tightened the headers down more it doesnt backfire anymore.
