have you checked the ventline from the gas tank and what color were the other plugs that you just took out try putting the quad on reserve and run it for a little while and see if there is any difference...are you running any mods and if so what and jetting...get rid of all the gas from the tank and carb and go buy new gas and see if that makes a difference make sure the airfilter is clean

if no one has ever taken your motor apart before I really doubt it would be your timing. just for kicks why not remover the carb bowl and check for water. I have had the very bottom of the bowl get about a teaspoon of water in it and it will idle fine but when you rev it, it gets enough vacuum through the main jet to draw the water up from the bottom and the motor dies out. this would also give you a chance to make sure your main jet isnt laying loose in the bottom of the float bowl and also make sure there isnt a foriegn object stuck in the main jet.

I know you said that you cleaned out the jets but did you check to make sure the pilot jet and all the other jets are able to be seen through and that when you hit the gas the butterfly and other stuff work properly...also that the choke isn't on

sonic to me the problem seems as if its the gas and from sitting a long time and there has been junk or something in the gas and the jets are clogged or the fuel petcock is clogged or mayeb he got bad gas or water as you said

If you have a Mikuni main jet, a 185 is too rich, which may be causing your black spark plug. If it is a Dynojet main jet, you should be pretty close. At sea level, most people use a 170, 172.5 or a 175 main jet (assuming Mikuni, not Dynojet). This is also assuming you are running with the airbox lid on. You also want the "c-clip" on the needle to be in either the third, fourth or fifth slot, counting starting from the sharp end up.
