i want to know if anyone knows of a 520 REAR sprocket that is steel for the ds? aluminum just isnt gonna cut it. if not, does anyone know of a 520 sprocket for something else that could be fitted up to the rear sprocket hub and then shifted to drill holes so that it would match the ds hub pattern? also what do you guys think about 520 strength on the heavy ds? i do alot of trails and mud so i dont get up to 4th or 5th that much. thanx in advance

You need to contact Sidewinder they are the ones who have a 520 kit for the DS and the material is Ti-Moly, a very strong material in my humble opinion of course . . . I have several friends who have used their Ti-Moly stuff for street bikes making gobbs of horsepower that have had no issues and actually replace sprockets and chains far less often than they used to when using steel parts. Just my .02
I think they get $349 for both sprockets and a chain. I believe On Dunes also sells somthing but I believe theirs were aluminum or at least thats all they had listed at the time.

We had this conversation at DS Days.... I am currently running the Ti-molly SideWinder 520 front and rear. Some said that they had friends that had horrible luck with it. I asked what the problems were, and we never really got any answers. Not saying that they were just talking smack, just probably didn't know the exact nature of the problem. I've dune'd mine, raced mine, trailed mine and I've got some pretty good power I've not seen one issue with the set at all! It aint cheep, but it be the bomb.
I'm very happy with it. I will tell you that with the ti-molly sprockets and a new 9800lb strength 520 Xring chain, I was able to save about 2lbs of ratating mass. Got to be happy with that. I believe that On Dunes has 520 stuff but I'm not sure if the have steel or not. Worth giving it a look.
Good luck

The ondunes 520 is aluminum. From what ive read and heard as long as
you keep the chain adjusted right. It should last a couple of yrs.If it doesnt
ill spend the coin and get the sidewinder rear timolly.
My weight savings was 3lbs.I dont know if it was the new setup or im jetted
properly now but i picked up 6 mph in top end.I went from 69 to 75.6.This is
with a gps on a long gravel road.
