From your description of your riding (big hills) i would say that a 9 paddle extreme hauler would be about right. The 22" will be much better than the 20" you have been using.

For you I would suggest going with the 10 paddles. We have a DS with those same basic mods and the 10 paddles were awesome for that one, in Lt Sahara. I would also suggest adjusting your gearing more. Go with at least a 15/42 with that setup, maybe even the 14/42. Also get the black lable rims over the red lables. My thoughts, those worked good for us.

If you are heavy at all then like they said get the 10 paddle extremes. The DS is a big heavy torquey bike. Also 8" rims will have a little better bite off the line and expand quite a bit when rollin fast basically like having a higher top gear. They just dont handle as well if you like to slide or side hill.

Are you referring to the paddles or the smaller rims, or the number of paddles being different?

My brother was pulling it in 3rd gear and he weighs in at 220ish. The thing that I noticed there was that you have very soft sand, and it is very dry also. That allows for a lot of spin. I thought the 10s were a little better hooking up the our 8s or 9s...
