Quotes are often used out of context. Here is Eric's response when asked about the specific quote Thebigshow just posted:

Quote from cynic:
Why is it that you don't care if someone is only gonna spend a grand with your company, are you really that well off that you can't handle another grand coming your way. If so than all of this crap shouldn't matter.

Eric:
That was bad wording on my part. The money was not the issue. Throwing parts on a bike whether they work or not is the issue. In other words I dont need a customer who puts a pile of parts on their bike ignoring my suggestions and then calls me complaining because their bike dont run up to par.

Ron i guess that i am mainly frustrated that giving an honest opinion based on real world experience just seems to fall on deaf ears at times. If i could just give some people seat time on my stock bore equipped with the HR3 cams i could persuade them that the cost is not an issue.I have some more of those "expensive" parts from back east coming my way that will help me to get up the hill even faster and i am sure i will get what i paid for and then some.

BINGO

Define the word RESERCH

These CAM specks DO NOT appear on the wall magically for these guys. Let me ask this question, HOW do you think they get these specks for their cams??????

Answer: "RESERCH & TESTING"

Same goes for Porting "RESERCH & TESTING"

Same goes for Valves "RESERCH & TESTING" and so on

"RESERCH & TESTING" cost MONEY and when it's time for resale of these product their is a price for ALL this work.....

In the end i just wish there were more companies involved with the ds650 than the main 2 currently, i hope if and when the ds450 comes out several caompanies will be involved therefore driving the price of performance down to where the average guy can afford the upgrades.

Well since I was brought into this allow me to add to it. Eric said what he said, and then the twist would be as if I did not like what I have done with my "grand". You can get the 109s from Kelly at KMS, his porting of the head for $400, oversized valves, and from my point of view the best CS on the planet. And he will get you work done in a timely manner and never miss on a shipping issue like my highly annoyed thread will tell you about. If you are looking for every HP out there and are going to use thier Race port then yes spend the money and get the most HP you can. But you can also get a very quick and reliable ride by doing your homework and getting those "shelf parts". Is there anything wrong with HPR??? No (other then my personal issues). However on the flip side, there is nothing wrong with the "almost as good" parts out there. I myself am very happy.

Lectron 48 from pacard racing
Head work and Piston from KMS
Web cam 109s bought used from HPR
HMF pipe and K&N bought from Marky and On Dunes
Ported intake from forum member
Vortex CDI from Gopartsdirect
520 chain from rockymountain
REar sprocket from eastern company
front curtosy of 650viper (By the way dude, the new one for you was shipped to me in error, and will be sent to you this week.)
And soon (Got it and have since become scard to use it) a nice shot of the funny stuff curtosy of another forum member.

I will be one of the first to say call Kelly at KMS. His work and timlyness are absolutly great....And let me make this very clear, I do not have an issue with HPR. I do not like thier prices, but I do have a problem with Randall for what could be considered a "personality conflict". I have seen Mikes bike run with the HPR parts, and make no mistake it is fast. But in that same token, mine is no slouch. Love the looks I get when I beat a Banshee up the hill.

Brent i am glad that you are pleased with the results that you have had with your DS and the parts that you chose. As for me i want to see just how fast i can make my stock bore and i know up front that it will cost me so i am good with that.My DS is going to be a long term project that will hopefully get better with time but once again it is my opinion that the best in terms of performance is HPR and if i am wrong the results will show on the hill.I truly do want everyone to get what they want and if that is HPR good for them but if not that is their choice as well.

I want the same thing you do, and will get there piece by piece. I have other things that are my main priorities (not meant to be a negative to anyone) and only work a limited budget for quad parts. I wanted to do the HR3s from your experiance, and had a used set of 109s not been available I would have gone there...Some cannot, or do not want to spend top doller so the other options need to be shown. HPR is on the top, that cannot be argued at this point. But the other options out there are not bad ones....
