Default aftermarket shocks for 800xt...

I have a few friends that are selling aftermarket shocks...some Elka, Axis, etc...I was wondering how I know if they would fit my 800xt? Do I simply measure from eye to eye on my existing and make sure that the ones I purchase are the same or close? Need some advise...

Thanks...Vortex800XT

You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

Try the Works Performance website. They list shocks for the 800 and give the length, etc. Good Luck.

So are you saying that I must match the eye to eye length exactly or can I be an inch or two over?

are the shocks for a ute or sport quad? If they are for a sport quad forget it they will have to be rebuilt to work on the 800

Bilstein has been developing their shocks starting with the Outlander, though they won't likely be available till next spring.

It all depends on what you want to do, if you do light work but mostly use it for riding trails and such, you may also be able to get the stock Renegade shocks as well....I'll ask but won't know till after the Baja 1000, because I know that there is a difference in geometry with the Renegade, and those are built b

Call Elka if you need them sooner rather than later. They make utility shocks so they will probably have the ability to make a set for you. I would hope they have had an oppertunity to get the measurements from the Outlander so they can factor in the motion ratios as the arms go through their cycles to be able to get the shocks set up properly.
