DS650 FULL engine rebuild
#1
Hey guys... been searching and searching... with no luck...
Where can parts and prices be found for the 650 rotax?
I'm talking parts for a total rebuild.
It doesn't have to be radical... just fixed and reliable.

For a little more power. . . check with:
Ron Wood
HPR
The Bom
TVI
I don't know if KMS has a Stage 1 kit.
What are you looking for?
The more specific you are the better we can help you.

Thanks guys...
This is not my quad.
It belongs to a buddy of mine. (he doesn't compute)
He has already bought a replacement ride and is looking into rather or not to rebuild this engine.
I think he is just looking to repair/refresh the engine, not sink big bucks in mods.
He checked into that first of course because when one is broke, that's a good excuse...
But mods were more than he wanted to put in it.
I 'think' the crank bearing is what broke.
I don't really know any more than that.
So what can you guys tell me to help him out with that?

If the main bearing is shot he's probably better off trying to pick up a used engine.
Finding a used crank in good shape isn't easy and will run you close to $350 probably.
If he doesn't know how to do the labor to tear-down and build the engine back up you'll spend every bit of $300 +++ on labor.
Falicon will sell you a new crank with a roller bearing but, you'll have to send your's to them to have them install it and re-balance the crank.
So, this is the worst case.
What I would do. . . contact TVI (Gary), Jeff Ross (The Bom) and HP Research. . . someone may have a used crank you can get. If not, one of these guys may be able to help you get yours to BRP and they may be able to repair it for you and send you a new one. It won't be free but, what do you do.
I'm pretty lucky. . . The Preacher is one of the best builders out there and he has reasonable shop rates. It took me 2-hours to pull the engine out of my quad last weekend. I'm taking it to him to have him put in new valve springs. . . just need to find the time to get to him. BUT, you can always ship your engine to him. He won't want to put any questionable (slightly worn) parts back in there but, you'll have a great engine when he's done.

I blew the motor on it once. Bent a valve and head. All it cost me was a new valve and we beat it in with a hammer and it ran fine For about a year
