DS650 engine/F650 compatibility, what years, fuel injection?
I own a 2002 Bombardier DS650 Baja(modle # 7484)
I know where there are two BMW f650's that are for sale with salvage titles. I know for a fact one is a 01' F650 Fuel Injected, not quite sure what the story is on the other.
Were there F650's made without fuel injection?
Would a DS Head fit on a F650 bottom end if not?
Would a F650 Engine bolt right into a DS frame, same mounts?
I was told that the BMW F650 engine comes with about 20 more HP, than a DS engine. If you install a Ron Woods Stage 2 Kit you would have the same engine.
DS650+RWStage2=F650 Stock set up---- same deal

A couple of things to consider:
The F650 has a single exhaust port as I recall. So you wouldn't really want to use the BMW head because of the need for a custom exhaust.
I would want to know if the intake ports were different to. I use a BMW intake with my dual carbs but that is off a carburated F650. I don't know what the intake ports are like on the EFI model years. This would tell you if you can use the streetbike fuel injection on the DS head. There is no way to know if the fuel injection will be dialed in with a DS exhaust. You might be rich or lean so you would have to check this out and do what it takes to solve it, i.e. power commander or exhaust and intake mods.
You may have to go to some lengths to protect the streetbike components, EFI, Computer, Wiring harness from the abuse and elements it will see on an ATV. Most street bikes are not setup for off-road. The F650 is somewhat so it may not be a problem.....check it out.
The F650 tranny is a closer ratio as I recall. I am remembering back to the Yjacket days and my memory is a little hazy but I think that is right. The problem is, I don't know for sure if the tranny can handle the load put on it by an ATV reliably. It might but they changed the tranny for the ATV for some reason. I believe the F650 tranny if back-cut, could be a good racing tranny. One of the things that hurts the DS is how wide ratio the gears are compared to other ATV's.
That is all I can think of right now. What would you gain for all the research and trouble? Rhetorical question that the guy spending the time and money has to answer......
Good luck

after using the bmw bottom and the ds top, through in a ron woods stage 2 kit on the top then you would have a f650, Right? In a ds frame. I might call ron woods and see what they got to say, that would be a 20+ HP DS with longer gears. If I can buy these bikes cheap enough could build a monster
