Seth runs 15/40. Until he lost 2nd gear which is about to get cured. He also just got the sidewinder ti-moly set up and bought the 15/40 for him. We ride alot of big dunes. Mostly Utah and St. A's. And Seth weighs about 180-185lbs.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Tracy, It should help. BTW, there is a nice picture of Seth, Chuck, and me taking off in the new sand sports mag.

My brother is about 230 and uses the 15/42 for sand, and the rest of my group is heavier from there. And yes we had issues with the rubbing and trimmed our plastic. It looks better that way anyhow

I am trying to remember what the tooth count is stock on the rear sprocket. Is it 40 or 42?

So to get more top end you go up teeth in the rear sprocket.I have a 14tooth front and its to short geared. So i could put a 41 on the rear and it should even out alittle more. Its on albaracing.com made by sprocket specailist.

Opposite of the front Nathan, smaller rear = faster top speed

What do you guys prefer.Im 220lbs.Ride lots of mud trails. And once a month to some steep dunes.I said before i have 14 on front. Its just to short geared 1-3 gears.I want to get alittle longer gearing.I thought about 42 maybe.I deffinetly want something light. But im sticking with 530 chain. So what other companies have the sprocket i need.

Nathan there are some gearing calculators on DS dedicated sites that are great for learning how the sprockets affect gearing.
