well I would suggest the 520 conversion for the chain to lose some rotating mass but it sounds like you don't need it...I would suggest around 15(f) to 40(r) or a 16-40...the only downfall if you did want to go with the 520 is I heard that it will stretch easier compared to the heavy duty 530...I know my 530 is a 110 chain, but they changed the sizes of the swingarms since then so I am not sure what size you chain is...I ride mostly traisl so thats the gearing I like personally but someone may be able to help you for when you go to the dunes since I don't really have too many places to open her up.

going with the 520 conversion is a great set up sidewinder will set you up with the correct gearing also. And for the sand if you go with a set of 22" 8 paddle haulers you will see a huge differance in the way your bike runs in the sand it is money well spent.

I would go 15/40 530 and be done. I dont think the 520 would help you much in the type of riding.

im gonna go with the 15/40 tooth and keep the 530 chain.

and i will buy 22' haulers for my next sand paddles.

but also which type of metals work best for a longer period of time?
ive heard that the aluminum ones dont last.

Whats stock gearing?16/???.I put a 14tooth on the front and its alittle to torqy.Plus top end is not very good around 65mph or so.But getting there it hauls a**.The only thigs i have are razers and k&n w/outerwears,sandsharks.It was an impressive diference with a 14 tooth.I never really go over 60-65mph anyway.I think im going to a 15tooth.Got mine from rockymtatv.com for like $8.00.

Yup I ordered a 15 front and a 40 back steel 530 from rocky mountain both shipped for 33.00. hell of a a price. The front is on close out for 7.95. the rear 18.00
I tried to get a 15 out at Glamis and they wanted 45.00

Ok, I am guessing you ride little Sahara in Utah the most? My question is if you ride sand way more, at your size I would look into a 15/42 gearing mayby even 15/44 for your hills there....Seth I know you are lighter, but what gearing were you running on your bike there? If you stay with the 530 chain, an alum rear sproket was lasting us around 70-100 + hours of riding. The 520 alum was about 20-30 hours. Again if you are running mostly sand I would recommend the 520 conversion it does help. I was weighing in at 300lbs and the 520 conversion gained me 300-500 rpms at little sahara. Also when you get your 22" haulers I would recommend the black lable rims. Much lighter then the red lables and still very durable. Just my .02
