You are right on the boring deal though.... I'd be surprised if this contraption could break 20mph at the weight you are talking about. Don't just single me out though... not one person who has posted on this thread has thought you were on the right track... or any track for that matter.LMAO

You could spend $250k on this project and it will still suck! The problem is the baseline. If you really have a big budget and are doing this for some environmental, fuel economy reason.......why not go all out and put a sophisticated battery system on this thing that drives it and use the 250cc motor to charge the batteries. Install a solar panel and use braking friction to augment the motor in charging these batteries and I bet you will multiply your fuel economy 10 fold. Remember the motor will have very little load if its primary task is to charge batteries. It will use almost no fuel comparatively........better yet, convert the 250 to a diesel!!!

I have a small budget, and sorry Fat Holly. That was a cheap shot. I just thought it would be entertaining for everyone else.
Larry Swinger, I've done lots of research on the reverse trike. That road is too expensive for my budget if I'm going to try to stay out of buying stuff from a junkyard. As far as the series hybrid thing is concerned, that could be a possibility down the road. First I want to make it happen cheap with gas, make it a good design (LOL), get something going, and then think of modifying that. Batteries are still too expensive to compete on price with a new Kia.

The full site launch of this is in 4 days. They aren't using a 250 motor, and it's not enclosed, but it is in line with the idea you had.

Just to update you all. We've decided to build without extending the swingarm for now. We may try to go down the extended swinger road later if we need more room or when we determine how much more room we'll need. At that point I'll refer back to the great links and recommendations listed here.
I will need to increase the size of the front sprocket soon. Any links to the right size of front sprocket? How many teeth is the front sprocket on a 650? Does the 650 have a 530 chain? I guess these are different since the engines are made in different places by different companies.
