this weekend i got my a$$ handed to me by a 450r ,yfz450, 660r for the 1 hour my bike was running i raced all three of them at the same time and yfz just jumped ahead and got around 6 bike lengths on me the raptor had around 4 on me and i was pretty even with the 450r.

i turned around and raced the 450r from a stop and a roll from a stop he jumped ahead and kept a length on me untill the end when i started to pull on him but from a roll i got him the whole way and ended beating him by 2 lengths.

i have a 2000 ds650 with a hmf pipe uni airfilter and 175 main & a 45 pilot ohh and the bike has less than 25hrs what affordable mods can i do for next weekend so i dont get but rapped again lol thanks.

All of the OMR carb mods. They really help.

 

Sound's like you did pretty good , the ds650 weighs a ton compared to the other atv's you raced, weight plays a big factor in speed/racing.

 

Short race...Long race? Change gearin? Launch in 2nd?

pretty long i hit the limiter in 5th its 9 miles long. plus the guys i was racing were weighing in at 160-200 vs me on my 480lbs ds plus me 260lbs.

 

i also have the complete air box on there lid and snorkles are still on there

 

Change your gearing to top end and in a 9 mile long race.Like a 17 front.Or 22 inch tires in the rear.You would get beat until all the extra top end kicks in and then you will beatem.

 

lose the airbox altogether. do old man racing carb mods. rejet, regear, and kick ***

 

well, heres what i did and with these mods my bike picked up around 6 lengths all together and i was pretty shocked. First i got completely rid of the airbox and just used the stock snorkel and uni filter with some creative zip ties it worked great.... I took off the carb and ported the intake myself. Some really good pics of ported intakes if you use the search feature on this site. also ALL of the omr carb mods. Make sure to do ALL of them. Also, i took my stock pipe's tip to the local auto speed and muffler shop and they welded in a 3 in tip and with some jetting and the stock gearing with 20s most bikes will get out on me a bike or 2 but when i click 5th she starts steppin out and really pullin on em. With the mods listed i am now outrunnin all the guys i ride with. Which include a cammed fully piped 450r with programmable ignition, a piped and multiple other mods on a predator. a few modded 660r's and a piped yfz......Which all of these bikes did put lengths on me late last year. ps. after you do all of this you WILL want more. So be prepared.....since i did, now i have a tm45 and an ignition box. 11.5 to 1 piston and more on the way...........


I wish i would have gone 12.5 or 13 on the piston now......when is it ever enough.
