Default just finished my subframe

just finished my chromolly subframe, havent sanded it yet or anything. just finished welding it and ran in the house and snapped a couple pics. the flash made it look crappy but you will get the idea. you would think the stock subframe is realy heavy but its actually only 14lbs. my new one is 6lbs. alot of work for 8 lousy pounds saved but it will look really cool once its powdercouted bright red! my photo bucket page

wow that was a big undertaking, seeing how you are so weight conscious on this build are you going with a titanium exhaust system too?

no sir, my entire exhaust will consist of a 6 inch long header , a t3 turbo and about 5 inches of big strait pipe!

Looks good! Hey every pound you shave off is that much less you have to launch or push up the hill.

That looks great! What kind of bender did you use and where did you get the flat section with all the holes?

thanks guys, took me about 8hrs so figure a pound an hour! LOL . well I have a 3/4 hand tubing bender that I used but I had to heat the tubing up a bit to get it to bend, guess because it was chromolly. either that or I' a pu$$y. that piece with the holes was just a piece of flat strap steel that drilled a pattern into with the drill press.

Looks good.

Our chromoly ones are under 4lbs.

Aluminum is 1.5lbs.

can I see a pic of one of yours in chromolly? you must be using some thin material. I used .065 wall.
