question on changing a sproket

Default question on changing a sproket



i wanted to know if u change the sprocket if u had to change the chain
or do any thing but change the sprocket?

Nope, no change in chain unless you go down to 14 in the front, then just take out 1 link.

oh do i need a chain breaker or a special tool

So are you putting a 14 tooth on the front? When I put mine on I had to grind off a link for a master, does your chain have a master link?

So to answer your question no you do not need a breaker, just a grinder, but they do help to remove the link. You can get em from Rockymountain for under $20.00 .

no im just putting on a 15 tooth.
and i havent really looked to see if there is a master link.
if there is which side will it be on?

The clip on the master link should be on the inside, but since you are only going yo a 15 tooth you should be ok, I also ran a 15 for a long time. But when 2nd gear started slipping I had to gear down to use 3rd when hillshooting. After my build I will be putting a15 tooth back on.

if you are useing a 15 tooth up front you should not have to shorten the chain at all.... I didn't. if you put the master link you MAY want to get an extra one or at least the retaining clip as i wasted mine getting it off the first time.
