just wondering how going from stock sprockets to say 15/40 sprockets will change top speed.

Dropping a tooth on the front will lower top speed. How often are you really run wide open in 5th gear ?? With a lower gear ratio you will get to your top speed faster. If you are running 22" rear tires a 15 tooth front is a must.

Compltely bald 22 inch rear tires with 15/41 gearing and i top out at 76.5mph. 16 tooth front is in the 80's.

Bigger in rear = less top end more low end (take-off)
Larger in rear = more top end, less low end

The front is opposite

There is gearing 101 NOW matching them the correct way is where you get into the advanced course [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Thanks Dune Rider thats what i was looking for. A 15 front will be just fine and at 76mph ill have no problem keeping up with my buddies wide open accross the field.
