Default Lower Ball Joint-How hard to change?

Last night, I was greasing all of the zerks on my 03 DS650, and found that the lower ball joint on one side had a big tear in it. Today, I ordered the OEM "ball joint kit" through BikeBandit.com, and I should have it in a few days. I am debating whether to take my bike to the dealer to have the ball joint swapped out, or try and do it myself. I am not a very competent mechanic (the most difficult thing I have accomplished is changing out the clutch springs). Are the lower ball joints a difficult thing to do, especially for a greenhorn? Any advice you guys can give me on the specifics of this task would be appreciated.

you will be able to hit the old ones out with a socket and a hammer, but you will need to get them pressed back in...I was told you can get a hand hydraulic press at any local auto store and that should do the trick.
