Lots of questions!!! Fairly Newbee

This is gonna be a long one! Probably confusing too! LOL!
Ok, thanks to the help of some of your responses I have got my DS running again! With the addition of some new used parts....wiring harness, carb., exaust (stock with fmf packing...with baffling/spark arr. cut off of the tip...hate the sound, but it least it runs!) new battery! Unfortunatly it just isn't like it was before! The power just isn't there! I managed to get the new carb on but had to use some parts of the old one that the new one was missing (ebay deal, got it for $10). I have adjusted the idle, but don't know much else that I can do with it other than rejetting! My old pipe was completly gutted and the tip was even ripped off, so I thought it would be rich if anything with the new pipe....however...it seems to kind of peter out if I don't just stay on it in 2nd!
Also I think the chain probably needs to be tighted...but I don't know the correct way to tell! And if it does I need some serious help in how to do that!
I live in the north georgia mnts. so most of my riding is on trails and whatnot, so I had also considered new sprokets....I guess I need to go with more teeth in the rear and less on the front to achieve more bottom end? Any suggestion on where to start? I have checked out sidewinders websites, but any other brand suggs. would be appriciated!
Tell me about the 520 conv.!
Also, I need to change my oil...from what I have read there is an oil plug under the engine...do i have to remove my skid plates to get to it? I have the oil...I'm stupid and bought can-am brand from the dealer at 11.00/qt. but I wasn't sure, so I just went with what they said! I also have a replacement filter! Also bought a gallon of 50/50 coolant...it is o'riellys brand and says it is safe to mix with any other kind of coolant..and safe for alum. eng.! Think it would be ok! I thought I really needed some(as my res. was empty) and was short on cash so I bought it. However, when I looked in the rad. it was comp. full! Even after running for about 10 min. still full! Help me out...do I just need to drain it and start over?
Last question...I promise! I bought the quad used and it has 22x7x10's(dunlop or some cheap brand) on the front and 22x11x9 ITP Mudlites on the rear (they suck for ridin' these trails here! I want to switch to 21 front and 20's rear, maxxis/itp style...is that to low considering the size/wt. of the quad? Especially with my big a** on it? (230 lbs. but loosing fast -- 40 lbs. since end of jan.) Do I need to stick w/ 22's on front and 21 in rear? I just want it to handle a lot better than it does! It is really top heavy feeling now...plus the ITP grab way to much for my riding style that makes it feel worse!
Sorry to take up all your time but your help is greatly appriciated! I am ready to ride this beast hard, but I don't wanna take it out till I get it just right! My buddies are saying its a piece of s*#t so I wanna prove 'em wrong soon!
Thanks guys,
B

First off you do not have to remove the skid plates to change oil, there is an access hole in the bottom to get to the eng. As far as the chain goes, to adjust it you need to loosen the pinch bolts for the rear carrier and then put a screwdriver in the sprocket hub and into the hole on the carrier and roll the bike backward to tighten. If you do go for the 520 conversion, buy the sidewinder they are guarranteed for life, well worth the money and will save you a ton of rotating mass.
I would think if you move your needle ond the carb that should help with the way it runs.
