Just order a stainless steel oil filters that filters down to 35 microns. Paper filter average only 50 to 80 microns. It is cleanable and reusable Just $65.00. It has a high flow rate even when the oil is cold. http://www.americandirtbike.com/

This stainless filter is great for the older models, but the new 2001 has a longer, larger filter, and a different filter is required.

is there some way to clean this filter? otherwise it seems like to me that if there is trash in the filter it would stay in the motor if its never cleaned.could you tell us a little more about it if you can? thanks.

Simply remove; rinse in clean solvent and replace. You use the same steps that you use for cleaning a K&N air filter
