380 mx bomb

everyone is all worked up because bomb might be buiding a 250 racer, what id like to see is them buid a race quad using the ktm 380mx motor,im ppretty shure that motor is a rotax,so they shouldnt have any problem getting them, and the dyno chart i saw on one said 49 rear wheel hp.the motor probably weighs about the same as a 250,ive never riden the bike but id buy a 380 over a 250 anyday.

The reason I think Bomb would come out with 2-strokes is quite simple. Since Bombardier is the "new dog" in town, they have something to prove in the performance market. And since Kawi, Yamaha, Suzuki, are most likely come out with 400 4-strokes. Bombardier would be in a crowed market in that class. And since 2-strokes are still the most desired, Bombardier would want to take advantage of that since the big four aren't.

If they use the 380MX motor, it does solve the bigbore problems & it (a single cylinder engine) solves the expensive rebuild probs found on the banshee(w/ 2 of everything).... but then what about parts availability?
on the other hand, it could not compete in the 250 2-stroke class, but would be w/ the banshees; and you know very well if it is popular...( thus: 2 models 250 & 380 would be sweet!) bigbore kits will be made available, (too much power does not exist for the duners!)
no matter how you look at it, the 380 will be heavier than the 250, they have to build it stronger to take more torque.
one thing of note: with current Hp numbers of 125 MX bikes, they could use a 125 to save weight & get a very quick race quad.... they're just a little harder to keep on the pipe than a 250.

Samson-
That is a very interesting point. To your credit, I hope very much that you are correct, because if you are that ATV is going to be the hottest seller on the market hands down. late 80s and early 90s used 2-stroke models (like the one I have) in no matter what condition will likely see a 25-50% drop in value. That all assuming it performs like a brand new ATV should and I don't think Bombardier is in the business to get beat - especially not by 10-15 year old technology!
