Ds 650 DEAD
#11
Chain snapped my a$$, The chain is overkill and something was either adjusted way wrong or you are just posting bs on the ds! I have had Quads with more power than the ds, although lighter, with quality 520 chains and had them last for at least two years.

Well it's YOUR A$$ then cause that Ba$%ard broke.Cost me $125.00 for a new o-ring.If i didn't throw away the broken link,i'll write you back and get your address and you can have it to look or put wherever you like.I'm kinda offended you think i'm posting BS.Trying to share my prob's to help someone else and get other opinions, not someone elses flak.As for the prob. w/my brother's.head came off at the shop today.Cam and bearings are fried. It'll be 1st of the year before it's fixed.Thanxs to all of you for all the helpful and suggestive advice.

My brother is Crashfirepm53 who started this thread and I own the used DS650 with 20 hours on it. Anyway the shop says I have a burnt cam and cam journel due to it not getting any oil even though there is the proper amount of oil in it. So something went wrong, what I don't know as of yet but I'll keep you posted. Anyone have this problem with your DS yet?

wow guys all these postings make me wonder how reliable this engine is. Seems if there isn't one problem then there is another. I have the problem of possible coolant mixing with the oil somehow. KenDs has major problems, kinda the same lines as mine but he doesn't even have his bike, the dealer does and the dealer is pushing Bombardier to replace his engine as a good will. I still need to ride the heck out of my bike to see if the problem persists since I just had the break in period completed and the first maintenace done. My dealer insists that the white foamy stuff in my oil Res was the break in oil. We'll have to see, the weather has been too bad to go for a ride. Hopefully I can squeeze in a few hrs to test it. I thought this Engine/quad was tested for over an year and all the bugs were worked out. Of course we all know that not all bugs can't be worked out till the bike is in production and the riders start finding problems. My 00 DS i bought was used and the previous owner had never ridden a quad before. Well he rolled it and it scared him real bad so he traded it in on a utility. Well the headlamp assebly was broke so that was a $100 cost for me right off the bat. I paid $5600.00 for it total. The bike had minor damages on it from the roll, but nothin repairable. Well let's hope this engine/quad does not have like an 100hr timer on it then it will blow up on us.....he he he.

I also had a chain to break. We checked the Bombardier updates to see if there was a bulletin and there was. The fix is supposedly to re-adjust the rear sag to each customer at the time of delivery. My original chain only had approx 10 hours on it.
Has anyone seen the new "Special Edition DS650"?
I have. Working at a Bombardier Dealership has its perks

Well in comparison on between my stroked 300ex and my new DS, the DS definitley has the power and HP. My opinion depends on what kind of terrain I'm on. On the track, I really like my stroker because it is lighter and easier to throw around in mid air. I still haven't hit a big triple jump on my DS because I'm scared of the weight. I'm sure that will change as I ride DS more and more. In a drag on hard pack, my stroker will jump out ahead of the DS, but once the DS kicks in, my stroker is sucking dust. I do like to race in all conditions except ice....Too cold! I like woods racing but mostly motorcross. Desert racing is ok, but it's expensive when you keep bending rims on big rocks. I think I'll like the DS in the long run, my stroker just got to be boring for me.

i'm a serious ds rider take your gas cap off and ride around it might have the breather lines pinched.

the white look your talking about in the oil is air.at least thats what made mine look white.i saw it when it was changed, but it didnt look milky.the way my dealer explained this look was that when the oil is injected into the motor it is returned to the oil tank by vacuum whichcauses the oil to fill with real tiny air bubbles that makes it look white or a little milky.also,im running KLOTZ synthetic oil and my clutches arent slipping yet.
