I was told by my uncle that the outy's had a good everything setup except for riding through water. He also said that you have to make your own home made snorkle system. If i ride in alot of water would this be a good idea to install one or would it be a waste of my time? And if anybody has installed one how ong does it take?

It will go deep in water as long as your CVT doesnt leak. Its worth the hassle to snorkel the outtie. Do a search on here

here's the scoop.....there good in water up to about the side or top of motor.as long as your just putting around. if you go splashing water can(and will) splash into the air breather and the cvt intake. so yes your uncle is right snorkle it. i used flexible sump pump hose for my 500 and my dad liked it so much did his 800 when it came back from 10 hour service.

if you get in water over the front fenders you will suck water into the cvt case and the air intake...then your belt will slip....i've tried to put up pics on my page today to show you......also go to your private message i left you a message

Very much worth it. It gives you a piece of mind when creek riding or dipping down in that mudhole you just dont know exactly how deep it is.

Here is a trail friendly snorkel.

Here is a "Lets find the deep shiznit" snorkel

Here is a picture after a "deep shiznit find"

Its a good idea of having the CVT intake below the air intake... So if you get water in CVT you will stop and will not go into deeper water and sink from your tires spinning unless you are in muskeg
