First of all, no, I'm not jumping ship. I knd of had a KFX 700 fall into my lap and I woud like to hear from those who have both, or just the Kawi, on what your suggestions are for hooking the thing up.
The way it sits now it's all stock other than a K&N filter and a twist throttle. I really haven't even had a chance to ride it yet other than testing it to purchase. I'm sure some exhaust would be a plus as the stock doesn't look very free flowing.
What about the CVT system? Is it like the Polaris Trailblazer where heavier springs and weights wake the thing up? Does it come in a nice bundled package from a particular shop?
I know allot of you have a DS and a Raptor, are there any Kawi owners in the bunch? It's sort of for my wife but I know she's not going to have the conversion that I'm hoping for so I need to get it set up for my big **** too! 6'4" 250lbs and used to the couch on wheels so sitting on something that feels like a balance beam up my behind is not my idea of a good time. But if it has half the power of the DS I guess I'll keep it around as a backup.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Vic, fourstroke tech is one company that does work on them. There is others aswell. Do a search.
But, that being said, its going to take some coin the really get the thing to run in the sand. It runs great in the trails, and on flats. But its not so good in the sand.

Chekkd is on here everyonce in a while, he might be on the kawi site. He has one bad **** KFX. It has a wheely bar and all for the sand. I would try to get ahold of him and get his advice. I rode that thing, and it rips!

You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

My son has one that came piped and jetted, with sand tires and paddles. Ran pretty good and he let his wife have it for a dunner. I had a Boondockers laying around so we set it up with a 25 shot. Runs good, but even with my fat azz on it, the front won't stay down. They have a wierd rear swing arm so I don't see how it could be modded except for a wheely bar and there goes the hill shooting. Have fun with it.

Vic, I really want to find a good deal on one of those for my wife...

BigDaddy had a post about getting beat by one and it was right at 90HP. I could not find the post my internet is crazy slow, but I remember some of the KFX700 owners spoke up on some shops...

You might want to check out that thread.

I have had 3 of them and the wife is riding one still. bought the first one right when they came out. they are a very nice duner and will go anywhere you point it but they dont get up the real long hills in a hurry. they are reliable and all I have done to my wifes since we bought it new in o4 was change the oil. I lined mine up with a guy who had spent big dollars on dual pipes, a clutch kit, jet kit, k&n filter and some other things and we were dead even for about the first 30 yards when mine just drove away slowly. the only one I have ever seen that did haul had a big bore kit with high compression pistons, porting and big cams and over sized valves and was dyno tuned. it was fairly quick and outran my stocker by at least 10 bikes. but he had 5 grand in the motor. I would just leave it alone and see what you think of it like it sits. they go ok and like I said , it will take you up anything and get you back without a problem.
