Default Mudders on 800 Renegade

I considered purchasing a Renegade 800 this year and decided against it because of how fast it is. I am mostly a mudder but do run some wide open corridors as well. The claim on the Renegade is upper 70's right out of the box which is smoking fast for a bike like that. Dangerous fast if you get into some unexpected whoop-de-dos that you weren't expecting. That being said, I spoke to a mechanic up in Mercer Wisconsin and he said that if you had some 27" Mudlite XTR's to the bike it will drop the top end down over 10 mph which puts it into the realm of reality in my book. Has anyone tried putting the mudders on the Renegade? If so, please let me know what you think. I don't think there is a cooler bike out there and may add one to my collection in the coming season.

The only drawback to the Can-Am Visco lok front end is if you go too radical on the tires, it will affect the way it works, and will engage late, and may not hold as good. It is calibrated from the factory to the size of the factory tires, bigger tires will may cause you to lose traction in the mud,or in a rough spot, where you can't keep tire speed up enough to keep the front locked in. The newer models are set up to hold a bit tighter, from what I've read, so maybe the '08 will not be affected as much.

I don't know what the factory calibration is on the speedo. I would suppose it is for the tires that come stock. Hey Steveo, how did your mudlites affect your top end? I bet that thing can really come thru the mud pits in a hurry. I haven't seen one with anything other than the stock rubber on it.

I had 26" XTR's on my eiger at it took away from my bottom end, but didn't really affect my bottom end and they were relatively heavy tires and still did pretty decent on the road/top end. My new tires on the gade don't allow me to get up that fast on top end so I can't really say on that, but I'm happy with them in the mud.

Im gonna GPS my gade when i get home from work in a week and ill post my results.

I wouldnt think twice about puttin mudders on the gade, esp big 1's. Underpower or poor handling isnt a issue
