I'm looking at getting a 400 max xt but i really wanted a 500, but the 500 and up don't have a buckup starter .Is the backup starter a big deal or am i worried for nothing.

Is a 400 max xt a belt drive? A belt drive ATV with only on option to start up is a super bad idea,it does not even have the option of being pushed started. You have to be confidant to put all your faith in a $50 ATV battery.

I would not worry about it unless you go out by yourself 50 miles into the woods. And that is not a good idea in and of it's self. I have never had a battery go bad in the woods. Dosen't mean it doesen't happen; it's just rare.

If you ride with anyone else then all you need is one set of jumper cables just in case.
