To make a DS run with a strong 4mill will cost about $20k. You will need to get down under 350 lbs, you will need to make at least 80 hp on motor and you will need to run at least a 25 shot with a real nitrous system. It will not be dunable anymore to achieve ths weight.

A good running alky 4mill cub makes between 100 - 112 depending on who does the porting. The fast ones run out of frame drag pipes and weigh in at about 275 - 300 lbs.

A good running 4mil is a tight race with the guys putting streetbike motors in the DS frame (which is far cheaper than building the Rotax to the level we are talking about)

I hope this helps.....

I heard that they have put a crank from a 454 rotax motor in the banshee's. Any one know any thing about it. 454 rotax is a 9500 Ski Doo Blizzard. A guy from Muskegon has a raceing shop, he was talking about it.

I would like to see a Dr Q RxLT500 against a 720/730/800 DS on "Race Gas Only" race A full Blown Ported Q motor is about 2500 to 3500 depending on how fast you wanna go, Ported from dune to ***** out, Head Mods, Carp rx 42mm to a 48 lectron, Q Pipe extra 1000 rpm no loss of bottom end, Reeds spacer, Tranny Back Cut gears, the onkly prob he is backed up for months.

I was told these Rx LT500 can produce on Gas up to and over 90 HP in a 340 lbs frame now thats a ride!!!

The DS will get its **** handed to it under those circumstances.........especially when you consider the cost difference.

duneable that is the big question- i think everyone agrees the ds is very dune friendly, which isn't saying it's good for drag racing. dsnut is right the ds is expensive to build, seems the race heads are 2000, cylinder and bore about the same, and a stroke is about 2000-2500? then there are axles ,shocks and and then the small things like cams and rotating mass, it never seems to stop. the bright point you will find plenty of people wanting to race your stock engine ds, not so many on the monster street bike engine ds, seems not many people like sand in the face.
