No sir, cant say I know a Ponch, but I do know a Lefty. I will have to do some research on the weight of it. The engine still in the bike.

Was that a C.H.I.P's reference?

Default GSXR 750 DS?

That's a very interesting question Mongo...

IMHO, I think that the 750 is a nice little option for the right application. First off, I think that the DS frame IS too heavy for the motor application. It's a lot of weight to move with tq numbers being on the low side.

Put that same motor in a 400-type frame, and now you've probably cut off about 100lbs right off the top. Your 750 will actually be harder to find than say a 600 or a 1000. The GSXR, while probably the best over-all bike on the planet, is much less common than the 600 or the 1000. Even less common than the BUSA in most areas.

As far as TQ loss and HP loss on the dyno, you are generally looking at about an 18 - 21% reduction from the crank. That is significant considering the SAND is the great equallizer.

Also, one more tidbit of info... the 750 is the exact same physical size as the 600. The new 750 and 600 share the exact same mounting locations, holes and install specs.

Good luck!

Scratch the ponchmobile, chain runs on the wrong side.

You guys with these converted quads, does doing this make them good for only drags? I mean Im not going trail riding with the thing or nothin, but I do like cruisin up/ down washes. I guess what Im asking is once this is done are they good for drag/hillshootin only?

Ponchmobile! LMAO

Actually all the streetbike motors that we use are on the opposite side from the DS. That is just one of the hurdels. No problem though.

Keep thinking about it. Keep asking questions and you will get it done.

Thanks for the input Major. I was talking ot my brother and he gave me an old 1000 Kawi 78 or 9 I believe. I know it wont have the cool factor of a newer crotch rocket, any body has any experience with these engines? No fuel injection its carburated but Ive heard and seen it run and its a screamer. Mite be easier on me because theres alot less wiring involved. Just an idea, call me out if Im going to be wwasting my time. Thanks guys.</end quote></div>

If you want a newer motor I know where there is a 89 Kawi 1000 Ninja for sale at a good price and it still runs.

Cynick-I'll keep that Ninja in mind. Glad to hear that these machine arent single dimension.

DSNUT-Guess that I never payed attention to the fact that these BomBusas chains runs on the left side. I am definitely well beyond the thinking about it stage, it's happening. I just dont know what asian powerplant to cram in there.

The GSXR750 and GSXR1000 arent that different from each other power wise, except for top speed. And actually, the 750 gets better 1/4 mile times and speed, and better 0-60 times. Trust me, i tossed up the idea between the 750 and the 1000. I have a 2006 750, which has an actual top speed of 172mph, way more than enough to scare the crap out of me. It will stay neck and neck with a 1000 up to about 150-160, and the 1000 will leave it behind.
