Default 800 Rear axle removal

Has anyone removed the rear axle on the 06 800 outty? I need to repair a boot but I have heard that you need a special socket. I'm looking for info before I tear into it.

I can't believe no one has ever had to remove their axle even if just to replace a torn boot!
You need to remove the swingarm on the side that has the torn boot to get the axle out. This is where you will find the big nut that takes a special socket.
It really just needs to be tapped loose with a hammer & a blunt chisel or screwdriver. Mine was just snug enough to seat the bearings. Be sure to remove the snap ring that holds it in first. When reinstalling, just tap it back in tight enough to reinstall the snap ring.
