ds 450 dyno map
#1
HMF shows a dyno map for the ds450 at 43.5 at 8.5k, slipon, dobeck, lid.Is this what we expected in the way of hp from can-am for the 450? I can see it would probably be faster than the yfz450 and others. [Stock HP is 36.] https://hmfengineering.com/forums/sh...ighlight=ds450

36 hp seems a little puny to me after all the hype. Thats a good gain for as little as was done. Why didn't can-am pull that extra hp out of the machine? I was expecting 43 hp out of the stock machine, that way with a couple of minor changes it would be at 50hp. Oh well so much for hype.

Just so that you guys know, the stock DS 650 were all dyno'ing between 34 - 36hp on Dynojet Dyno's out here in vegas. If you've ever done any work with us Sin City guys out here you know what I'm talking about. The boys from Kentucky came out here on our dyno and were absolutely stunned with what they saw.
34 - 36 HP on a 390lb quad means that the 450 is probably a monster!!!! Haven't seen one yet though.

My stock DS with a slip on was just over 37 HP on the LTE Dynojet, so 36 seems decent for a stock 450, what are the other 450s pulling on the same dyno. I think comparing dyno numbers is only good if the numbers are from the same dyno....

Well my friend who was working for the dealer rode one,and i must clarify he hates small quads, his impression was it did handle very good, but the power was a little dissapointing to him seems he expected more, so basically i'm just doing the repeat thing, but after i seen the dyno chart i also felt the same way. Now we must remember how much can-am was making to do about having more hp than any other 450.They made it sound like would be quite a diff also this is supposed to be their race ver of the 450 so you would expect it to be already maxxed out. I agree those numbers for the stock 650 are a bit anemic taking in account the weight, but people know that and buy them for what they can do with it.I believe the 450 will do well on the track, but i'm more interested in power in a straight line. The 450 wont be a raptor killer because of the same problem with the 800, very few aftermarket products available.

wow that is pretty paltry HP... What is the approx % parasitic loss on quads? Because polaris claimed the 525 outlaw was 50hp crank...which probably equals 43-45 hp at the wheels? (I imagine quad drivetrain loss cant be more than 10-12%). If the 525 can put down 45hp stock, hopefully with just basic mods (pipe/filter etc) it could be low 50's??
The ONLY reason I liked the idea of the new 450 was the supposed power output, but now its down at the bottom of the list, with the ktm 525 at the top and the raptor 700 following close behind.

The least efficent are the cvt, my renegade has 62hpfly/w the dyno will be 42-44,so looks like about 20% loss.Wow wonder why it runs so good and holds its own in a drag with the sport quads.
