The gentleman on ebay that I got the cams, piston, and cylinder from a couple of weeks ago said that he doubled what he paid for the whole DS by parting it out. Guess if you have the time and the patience then that would be the way to go. You don't take a huge loss on your aftermarket items that way either. OEM is very expensive and ebay is a great way to save $$$ when you need a box full at a time.
Has anyone actually seen one of the motors go for $1K+? I've seen a few of them listed but no succesful transactions. I bought a complete motor for $400, dropped it in and not one issue in almost two years.

I bought my low hour motor for $1000 from SST, although it was not an ebay purchase. Then I dropped all my parts in it and wallah eng done.

I have been running a $500 ebay motor that is stock for 6 months now. It is a good motor. No smoke.
I have a very nice looking DS with a +6 arm and cut plastics. It has a pipe and open intake and runs great. I can't get $3k out of it so i am going to sit on it and use it as an extra when we have company or a back-up when mine is getting mods.
When the selling prices are this low, keeping it is just like buying it really cheap.

LOL, good point, the glass is half full this way. Look at the great $2,500 quad I have.
