Default Outlander 400 fire

I have an Outlander 400 2004. I had the voltage regulator moved to the rear as was recommended. That stopped the VR from getting to hot and cutting the engine off. We don't run it very hard, mostly use it for farm use. Then one day I moved it from the yard to the shed , had not ridden it hard. About 15 minutes after shutting it off I smelled smoke. The back of the ATV was on fire. By the time we could get the fire under control the shed and all contents were destroyed. Anybody else hear of any Outlander ATV fires? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Did you have the voltage regulator moved to the rear?

Talk to whoever recommended moving it. Why? BRP engineers obiously don't agree with the guy. Or are they who recommended it. Then talk to them.

Also, ck gas tank pressure relief valve for failure, should not be releasing liquid gas, only vapors, fumes.

What do you mean you had the regulator moved. The voltage regulator was getting to hot and it was cutting off the motor. Are you sure moving it caused the fire or was it going to burn anyway. I am asking because I have a friend that was hunting on with his new Yamaha and it caught on fire. Where is that normally at . Could it have been under the seat. I am not sure if his was off, I plan to ask, but flames started coming up between his seat and because it was so dry, it caught in the grass and ended up burning 500 acres of woodland. Please get back to me.

Thanks,

How would he know if it burned. Surely if it burned the shed it was in , it must of destroyed it. I know this one I am talking about sat in the fire and the company said they were going to check it for a malfunction because it was on warranty. How do they tell this, is what I would like to know. I think that the bike malfunctioned. I mean he used it to hunt. It was brand new. He thought that it got hot and it caused the grass to burn. I say it was burning and burned bike and grass.

I have just opened an inestigation of a fire, Christmas day, that destroyed a 2006 outlander 400 and most of the house. The machine had been used for about 15-0 minutes and parked in the garage. Turned off...key remoed... The victim reported that about 30 minuted later he found the ATV a "fireball", and the corner of the garage fully engulfed in flames. Any report of something similar would be appreciated.
