drag pipe??????
#1
just wondering,
has anybody took a in-frame drag pipe and installed a
disk type end cap on it to quite it down a bit, but still get
good preformance???? if so... how well did it work and
how quite is it????? im asking because im looking for a
good pref. exhaust for my 800 when its done, and i dont think
im going to find a HPR top gun anytime soon.... might have to
go with a woods pipe, or build my own......
anybody out there with a 800 your imput would be sweet.....

TopGun was your choice. I ran one with my 800 at the dunes. Louder than hell. I don't know what the deal was, my 730 was quiet. The 800 just barks!
I would look at the Ron Wood, CT and the Big Gun.
Actually if i were you, i would buy an LTE system and use the flanges and the silencers. Mount the silencers on the ends of your foot pegs and build your own expanding pipe from the flanges to the silencers. This will be a fairly quiet set of pipes that will perform very well. I did this with my Bullet Raptor. They made a little more power than LTE's from the factory and they look phenominal!
This solves the snorkel issue of running LTE's on a DS650. They perform better because they will end up with about 8" less pipe on both sides. LTE's don't perform that well on the bottom end on DS650's but part of that is the direct mount filter. The rest of the reason is the length, shape and size of the mid pipes.
PM me your e-mail and i will send you a picture of what mine look like.
But that is just me.....

I DID NOT KNOW THE DS SUFFERED WITH THE LTE'S.....Lets forget the fact i have a stock bore pami that runs 4.8's with a 48mil miki. And direct mount filter the lte is a dangerous pipe due to the heat if you do not run shields like me .But aside from that the preformance is outrageous.Oh yea i run them susscefully on a 800 too.
PS:Nut boy leave the spelling alone. step away from the correction key

LMAO! I don't have to use it often
Here is proof positive that LTE's don't perform very well as manufactured lol

thanx guys...
prob going to have to be a woods or a CT.....
i read a post were someone said the mid on the CT
is weak, but i think he had a stockish motor.......
had a full big gun on my 730 but it fell off on top.....
i like the looks of the CT, i read the woods pipe is a preformer
but cant find any pics of it installed on a DS.....

Any single is going to choke the 800 on top end if you are running HPR's cams and porting.....except a drag pipe. Even the TopGun nulified the benefits of twin carbs.
Mine actually ran better with a single 48mm Lectron when I had the TopGun. The twin carbs and the drag pipe are the key to making brutal topend power with one of these.
I know my idea seems crazy but i think it is the answer to getting the exhaust out of these things and still being at a reasonable decibal level.
I sent the pics over a few minutes ago.
Happy Thanksgiving!

sweet bike..... thanx....
not sure how that would work for trail riding....
no dunes here in wisconsin;.... lot of wide open
trails to open it up on though.... i dont need a ton of
top end, just like it to pull to red line in 5 gear....
my 730 wouldnt pull past 7500 in 5th (red line 8900)
my motors got all the goodys from HPR, i am going to
drop a tooth in the front with a sidewinder 520 kit...
so.. in your opinion which flows best the woods or the CT...
oh.. and how did the 730 comp to the 800????
a guy on here has a custom CT drag pipe with the disc end cap
for sale... ever play with or see one???/

Dayam! I never considered running an 800 on trails before!
With the single carb and single pipe it was essentially 10% more power than my 730 and would pull one higher gear up the sand hills.
The CT is MUCH quieter than the RWR.
BTW, I trail that bike that i sent you pictures of. The tires stick out further than the exhaust cans......but you might want to run spark arrestors to avoid brush fires! LOL
My vote is on the CT if it has to be an inframe single and the TopGun isn't available.
