I saw both 450 and 450x at a dealer demo they look sweet. I was supposed to ride them down in Brawley CA this weekend but got sick and couldnt go. They look sweet though.

I sold my DS 760 Pami this year and got the Raptor 700.
Do the 3 mods and you can go anywhere you want. You'll be quick enough on the hill to beat-up on a few people and it will turn over every time.
The 700 is much more nimble and a ton lighter.
I hated the old Raptor 660's. . . mostly the carbs. The new ones are much better IMO.
The DS450 isn't out yet and I wouldn't want to be the first to buy one but, that's just me.
The Raptor is cheap to modify too if you decide to do it. I could put $1600 into the engine (IF I WANTED) and I would have a very fast bike.
As it is, with the 3-mods, I was right with a couple DS guys at DS Days that had Stage 3 DS's. Pretty impressive for a Bolt-On bike!
The Torque of the Raptor is really impressive. I put it in 1st when I'm loading my trailer and it just idles right up the ramp. Pretty cool.

guys i went and looked at the yfz450 today and the rappy 700. i really wish i could ride the yfz to see how stiff it is. the guy at the shop said the yfz is faster than the rappy700 but i found that hard to believe. i like the price of the yfz. Man, $4800 is hard to beat for a brand new quad. i dont know about it still being carburated though. efi seems to be the growing trend right now and if i am gonna get a new quad i want the newest technology ya know. are the new rappys light in the front like the old ones? and also how are they on the trails?

the front end is alot heavier in the new ones. because they back half of the frame is alumium putting most of the wieght up front. and they do great on the trails atleast here in so cal. btw in a stright line the raptor will beat the yfz450 in drag race(it is a very close race though).

I have not rode the 700 raptor yet but have had a couple of 660s. The rappy will be much more comfy for sure, but for fast trail riding I love the YFZ, you don't have to go big bore to get better bottom end either, but I would reccomend a high comp piston good intake and pipe, very easy to change jetting also. The new YFZs are more comfy than the older ones and I think with the new head design they have a little better bottom end that the older ones. I like how the YFZ sits a little lower than the rappy. Although I would consider it if I was buying a new bike right now. It would be great if you could ride one of each.
GEt the 700 so I can ride it next year at Silver Lake next year I will have a smaller cc motor on my bike, but should still be a runner

well i think i will go to the dealer tomorrow and see if i can ride one of each in the lot. i compared specs and the rappy is 396lbs dry- the yfz is 350. i like fuel injection. the height, width, length are actually pretty much the same with the exception of the rappy being about 2 inches taller in the seat. i dont like the blue color but i think that is all the dealer has in the rappy. oh well. i am leaning towards the rappy. i dont know how maintnance intesive the yfz's are so if ya got one chime in. that includes you wayenster. i just want whats best for me ya know. i am very interested in the mx track right now but that is just for play not hardcore racing. do many peaple do hairscrambles on rappy 700's?

You should ride the 700 raptor for sure....i hate how they feel...its like riding a dirtbike or something it just feels very different.

I can chime in here as I have experience on all the discussed quads. The YFZ is a dialed in race ride, very tight suspension and handling and fast when RPM's are high, but very fatiguing on the trail for those same reasons. The Raptor 700 has much more bottom end power and not quite as firm suspension but the handling and power I thought was sooo much better the the old 660 they aren't even comparable. I just bought the new Outlaw 525 IRS and I would say it is the fastest out of the box but I don't like the IRS. I feel it is poorly designed and mine is showing several frame cracks after 6 hours of riding WTF?? I have owned 10 quads in my life and never had this happen before. I love the KTM motor and plan to sell the OUtlaw and get the new KTM 525 for duning. My favorite trail quad is still the DS for long trail rides because it is still the most comfortable, fast quad I have ridden. Hope this helps. BTW PM me if you know someone who wants a good deal on the 07 Outlaw 525. It is still under warranty!

well, i called the dealership today and i was told that they do not allow demo rides due to insuarance restrictions and i would also have to pay an extra 200 for the grey raptor. man i hate the blue ones.... they are so common and plain looking. i dont know whats up. i really dont want to buy a quad until i have test rode it.

I'd go to a different dealer ... We have a Yamaha dealer here in town that has no problem letting you try out any of the quads they have. They've even offered to help me load up if I want to hit a pit to check it out for the day.
If they don't even want to help you buy a quad from them, then it should be a lot of fun to try to get service help from them after you buy the quad...
