ds90x

Just got back from Glamis and am very happy with how the bike did. There was a Can-Am dealer at vendor row and I asked him what he has done to the 90 to get it to run. He mentioned that all his parts (which I either bought or am waitlisted for) were from Maximum RPM and the quad is 100% better. I asked him why it is that even the manufacturer has to go to an outside company to get their quad to go? As you can imagine, he had no answer. I also saw another DS90x there with headlights on it. Has anyone here done that mod yet? I was told that they should bolt right on. What would I need for this light kit? BTW, my son made it to Olds Hill a few times via the dunes and not sand highway with no issues. tobad that was the last dune trip of the year

We have two ds 90x, because the first one had the transmission come out within the first two months. We've been racing the other in the GNCC circuit in a limited class (no modifications) but we have absolutely no top end or bottom end. Do you have any pictures of where to find the gray wire? What other modifcations have you made or suggestions do you have?help

Call MaximumRPM. They will be able to get you what you need based on the riding style. As far as the grey wire, look under the right front fender and you should see the CDI bow. The grey wire is visible and just disconnects. The next step would be to get a clutch kit. If you still crave more power and speed, then go with the high rev cdi and exahust kit. Ohh and change out the roller wieghts on the clutch. Again, MaximumRPM has all this stuff specifically for the DS90X.

My daughters Ds 90 has been in the shop for last 2 months waiting for gaskets, pistons, rings and everything else they needed to rebuild the motor. Been in shop for four of the five months we have owned it. Rode bike at dunes three times and hadn't made it through one weekend without major problems. Can am and local dealer Rec World Las Vegas had horrible customer service. I won't buy another bike from either. Can am wouldn't replace bike or even replace whole motor, just fix what was damaged. But they still can't figure out what caused the many problems this bike had. Overheating, burning oil, loss of power were just to name a few. Read previous posts cause I can't even remember it all. All I got was an additional six month warranty. Does me no good since dune season is pretty much over. Time to sell ds90 and move my daughter up to a 250 earlier than I wanted to. I knew buying my first can am was a mistake. Raptor 250 will look good with other 6 yamahas in the garage these days. Hope others aren't having these problems but I have a feeling that when these bikes start getting ridden in warmer conditions like we have here in the southwest these problems are going to arise. If you start to see oil coming up the cranckcase breather tube in the airbox stop riding bike because that is just the begining of your problems.

Hey Tlskinn, we did our last ride on Easter weekend in the dunes and it was awesome! As of right now the bike is currently at the dealership. When we came home from the dunes I noticed oil on the floor of my toyhauler. When i started cleaning the bikes I noticed that the oil was from the DS90x. It wasn't a major issue and could have been easily fixed by me. However, I still have it warranteed and if it should happen again, atleast it will be documented. It looks as if the oil drainplug gasket was faulty and they needed to order a new one. It was also leaking oil from the headpipe. that just needed to be tightened down. The last issue was the rear left tire had a slow leak since new. Turns out it wasn't seated properly. All the issues I've had have been minor. I just want the dealer to fix it while it is warranteed.
If you guys are having trouble with it overheating, you may want to install an oil cooler on the bike. Chances are, your kids aren't riding fast enough to get enough air to cool down the head. I haven't had the need to get one yet but it isn't hard to do. Just remove the plate at the right side of the head and install the oil cooler adapter plate. Run two lines to the oil cooler from that plate and affix the oil cooler facing the front of the bike. Under the steering shaft on the frame would be my choice. I've been doing alot of research and observing the new line up of bikes out there. And I think Edkatt can back me on this when i say ALL youth atv's have flaws. These bikes aren't race ready off the showroom floor. Infact the only bikes that can handle what my kids do are the older two stroke models. Unfortunetly they are outdated and getting harder to get parts for. Keep in mind these new atv's are just that...new. Aftermarket vendors are taking care of the issues the manufacterors are overlooking. So do you homework, inspect the bikes thoroughly and chosse the bike that has the best reputation, higher quality parts and most aftermarket backing. The only complaint I have for this DS90X would be the fact that it was so underpowered right from the dealership (most youth quads are setup like thet now) and that they didn't install front daytime lights on it like the DS90 has.

The reason for them getting hot is becaue you have to be at full throttle all the time, and even at that there is not enough air flow to cool them, due to low top speed.
