Default Help with 2006 DS650X

I am looking to purchase a 2006 DS650X and would like to know if there are any problems I need to look for or opinions on this bike. It has a big gun exhaust and has both the stock rims and tires and a set of tires for sand on rims also. I have ridden a 2001 before but I believe there were changes from then to know. Thanks for all your help. The owner is asking 4500 or offer so wondering if this is a good price also.

Sounds like a good deal to me. The price is reasonable, but you can always talk them down a little. They had most of the problems with the earlier models, but I believe that they worked most of them out of the bike already. The oil filter is a different size than the earlier models. Plus the Baja-X has nerfs, hand guards, kick-up foot pegs, and baja lights, shock covers. lets us all know what happens.

The newer models are also have a shorter swingarm. My 05 swingarm is about an inch shorter then my 01 was... I bought an 02 swingarm assybly off e-bay to swap in at a later date. Some may not notice the differance but I sure do in the dunes.

I recently blew the motor in my 03, and picked up an 04 Baja X that has the shorter aluminum swing arm and the aluminum a arms. I am going to Glamis in a few weeks, and am worried that I won't like the shorter swing arm (I thought my 03 was PERFECT for me-the front end never felt light). What difference do you notice with the shorter swing arm and when do you notice it? I am considering swapping out the swingarm from my old 03 before my trip.

Well on my 01 with pretty much the same mods as my 05 but with 20" paddles the front end would get a little lite but not too bad while climbing steep hills...Now with the 05 in stock form with 22" paddles I hook up way better but the front end is way light. but always seemed to be revving way high but couldn't quite pull the next gear. Now here is whare it gets interesting, With the 05 with the mods I can pull a gear higher then stock and the front end is way too light. Hooping to solve that with dropping a tooth in front and switching to longer swingarm.
