HEy all!
Hows it goin? i had a accident a few weeks back with my ds650, i came out kinda alright but my bike got the worst of it.. anyway i got my bike back from the agents today, they managed to fix up all problems except that on my rear plastics there are still quite alot of scrathes that really dont look to good [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]. does anybody have any ideas or knowledge on how to "patch up" the scrathes or remove them. thanx alot, i trully appreciate it

 

SHort of painting or replacing there is not a lot you can do with scratches in the soft stock plastic. When mine got beatup in a rollover I replaced with a set of Laker Customs. They don't scratch nearly as easy as the stock plastic...

 

i've never tried it but they say if you take a heat gun or a small torch over them lightly it will take some of them out, worth a shot anyways

 

you can try "PLASTIC RENEW". I have heard good things about it. I just bough a can and will try it out and will let you know how how it turns out.

 

plastics renew SUX!!! I just tried doing my atv plastics with it and dissapointed me. I may have done it wrong but I folloed the instructions just like it says to do. It shines but you can tell its a fake shine (is that understandable?)

 

Hey drbalazo thanx allot for the feedback! i appreciate it! yeah i believe u! tried a product called "nouvus plastc repair" and its also ****, didnt work at all.. its amazing hw on the net and all the pictures show these products to be good but wen u buy them they end up bieng useless

 

No problem. I guess if you want a very nice shine, then new platics are due, lol. I may have to buy me a set.

 

i seen a ds on ebay that had line x or a rhino lining coating on the plastics, i asked the guy he said it added 5 plds to the quad but it looked really cool and he said it is indestructable, i wonder if the stuff you buy in the spray can from canadian tire would work?

Don't waste your money fellows.The plastic in question,is a thermo plastic.This type of plastic will emitt oils throughout its entire lifespan.Therefore coming between the substrate and paint coating.Abrading the plastic substrate will certainly assist in adhesion but not to the level required,due to the oily film forever present.
