I think Rocket Factory has had real good luck with their Heads Sealing.
I've heard of guys that have re-used the stock head bolts with a bigger bore on the stock jug and 12 to 1 or greater compression have issues. Haven't heard of any issues with the O-ring'd Jugs though.
Some guys are going with upgraded studs but, the or bolt size or something isn't the same so, isn't as easy. Not that big of a deal but, if you're gonna go with a higher compression motor it is worth doing.

Bill:
We'll be up your way I think the second week in July camping at the Myrtlewood shop. Let me know if you're able to make it over.
Yes, for about $4k (after you have the 3-mods) you can get a full on race ready duner INCLUDING a lock-up clutch!
I have no plans of doing that but, it is amazing what can be done and for how little of a cost.
I would think a mild bore/stroke would be about equal to what you have on your build. You may even be able to do it with just a high compression piston, port work and a cam.
Oh, a new cam. . . About $150. . . no core charge and you only need one. You can run the stock springs with a Stage II Hot Cam (what most run). No new shims or buckets needed. If you port it, then for sure do the springs but, pretty impressive what can be done for very little cost on these bikes.
I'm sure I would eat a TON of sand racing any built DS where I am today with it. I'm sure you've raced RaptorRandy though and I would guess he is around $5k with engine / lock-up clutch, swingarm, etc. I'm sure you know his is a runner more than I (I haven't seen his bike run.)
As with any, it is all in how far you want to go.
You've got a great bike Bill. . . just need to get out an ride it. Sounds like you are getting the blue's and your wheels are turning since you haven't been able to ride (I talk from experiece! ) Everytime I haven't ridden in a while and I got the itch. . . the Credit-Card finds its way out of my wallet for one thing or another!
