while shifting from first to second the bike slips back out of second gear as soon as you give it some throttle, what could this be? thanks

Could be the shift fork, or you are just not getting it all the way into second when you shift.

It is probably a bent shift fork and that could lead to your engagement dogs wearing. You want to fix this as fast as possible. I recommend getting your engagement dogs undercut upon disassembly. It isn't cheap but, you won't want to have to do this job twice.

Put your location in your profile.

If we know where you live, we can recommend people in your area that can help.

This is a big job. I would expect to drop $600 to $1,000 on it if you have someone else do the work but, once done you won't have to worry about it again.

Go up and click on Profile. There you can put in a signature. That is where you can enter that info.

If you do this yourself, do a search on Hightower, he has a complete how-to on this job. I just did it myself last winter and it is one major undertaking.

I did the job myself last year as well. It is a big job but not really that hard - if you are ok with tools and fixing bike - follow the instructions and you will be ok.

Get the gears cut as well - make the tranny shift like butter.
