lightest 450 engine

why are the yfz's getting heavier?
and sandman430, the baja 1000 is still only about 25hours- and i bet that the hondas that win that event have expended oil chambers.
but ya, i would take a honda engine over a yamaha anyday.
4 valve sohc seems a lot easier to work with/service than 5 valve dohc

I dont know the dry weight of a ds 450 off hand but the ktm weighs in at 351 dry but it helps in the weight department to have a carb then efi. i think that can am did the right move putting more weight into the engine to make it more reliable and cutting back on weight every were else. crazy1291 i dont know if the honda 450's could run the baja with expanded oil chambers considering thier oil chamber is in the engine unlike all other 450's. and hoda's sohc is actually what they call a uni cam and is better than a normal sohc because it runs better at higher rpm's. Thats why most dohc and honda's unicam can run higher rpm's than sohc machines.
