I have done some fast oil changes in my time, But now that I think about it. If you do not drain the oil resivor, how much oil do you new to top it off with.

Total oil capacity on the DS is just over 3qt. The motor holds about 1qt and the tank holds about 2 qt. If your changing oil do both.

Official capacity from BRP is 3.3qt and that is about max what I can put in both my 04's. I have never been able to get a full 4 quarts in. Be carful not to overfill!

Well, I should add that when I change my oil after draining the engine along with the remote tank I take the air compressor and blow through the tank filling the gaps around the compressor nozzlle with a shop towell to get a good seal and a good amount comes out of the engine through the drain plug. Doing this demands a full 4 quarts if not a slight bit more. A traditional oil change would more likely only need 3.5 give or take...

I allways drain the line from tank that goes under the rad. where it sags by removing it. essentially the same thing as blowing it through with air. I generally have a half quart or a little less left from a gallon jug. never needed a full gallon to fill.
