Default Replacement battery

My quad is in storage during the winter so it is not real accessible. I just went to wal-mart and bought the battery that measured as close as possible. They had two, one was a bit smaller and one was a bit bigger. I bought the smaller one but next time, I'm going to try the bigger one to see if it will crank faster. My motor is a 730 with 11.5:1.

I think the part number of the one I got was a "bla, bla" 14 and the next size was a 16.

thanks Halfliter. if that battery has been workin good for you the last 2 years then I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be reliable. I have a battery tender for the one I have right now, and it keeps the battery charged but since it's cold out right now, she don't start right away and the cranking amps fall REAL quick let me tell ya!..I'm gonna clean up my grounds and use some dieletric grease on the battery and on the clean grounds to make sure that's not a problem.

Walmart batteries are made by Exide, and have decent specs. The Glass Mat versions, are not any cheaper than other Maintenance Free, but by the time I get one shipped on the internet, I end up saving a little. I have had a couple lead acid Walmarts last 2-3 years, and I have just recently upgraded to a couple AGM Maintenance free. I hope they last.

Well, just ordered a PC545 since my battery is crap. Think I should still let the battery tender sit on it when I get it?

No I understand that, but should I keep the tender on it while it's being stored between rides?

No, I dont think so. I just bought a quad with a PC545 in it that had the motor apart for around two years. When I put the new motor in, it cranked over.

UPDATE

PC545 has been installed for a couple weeks now, no problems what so ever! It must be a little thinner then the stock batt, when I put it in it wasn't tight in the holder but just put a couple pieces of cardboard discretely behind it and now fits like a glove!! Just took it out for a ride on some trails a couple days ago, started right up, and no sign off the cranking amps dropping. Grounds are all clean and dielectric greased.

I highly recommend this battery! Says it actually holds it charge better in the cold so that's perfect for Michigan weather! Thanks everyone for the advice
