Default Where does the upper part of the breather tube go?

I've researched this and found that some people have a long hose going over the frame toward the back of the DS, but my line was somewhat short and would not go very far.

Can anyone supply me pictures of where the breather hose is supposed to go at the top? Mine is attached to the engine in the front, but the upper end was tucked under the seat and next to the frame rail. It had a clamp (plastic clamp - looked like a factory style clamp) like it was supposed to be hooked onto a hose barb, but I didn't see one.

I don't think that this hose should be hanging out in the open, so where does it go?

It does go out into the open air thats why some guy's get a longer hose and route it around the frame. That way it gets away from the rider and doesn't make a mess of the bike.

From the factory the hose goes into the right side snorkel tube (sitting on the bike). The vapors then, are sucked back into the system. There should be a hole in the snorkel tube where it hides under the tank plastic. It is not an air tight connection, just enought to suck the case vapor away from the case. I rerouted mine to the bottom of the frame with a small filter.

I bought about 6ft of hose and routed mine forward, up and over the radiator, around the oil tank and back down between the a-arms just below the bottom of the frame. No filter needed, and the fact that the oil would have to go all the way up and over the oil tank mean I get very little if any oil coming out of the hose. Best cheap mod I ever did...

Yea, mine makes a hell of a mess... only about a foot of tubing straight from the case to just behind radiator. It all cleans off pretty easy when I wash (usually with pressure washer), but its par for the course with all the bits of sand that stick to everything else that ever had oil on it. I still want to re-run it over the radiator.

Cool. Is there any reason to not keep it in the snorkle tube?

I saw a hole on my left snorkle tube and thought that it might go there, but it wasn't long enough to reach. I'm willing to bet that the snorkle tubes got swapped at some point. If it is fine to stay in there (in the tube), then I'll un-swap the snorkles and put it in the right one.

It really doesn't matter where it goes. If you are completly stock I would run it in the stock position. If you are going to start doing mods, you can run it where ever you want. Just remember that it does spew a small amount of oil (at least mine does). The stock steup just puts the oil and vapors back into the combustion cycle so no(or maybe less) mess.
