I have read a little on the subject, but would like you guys to help me out. I have the opportunity to buy a brand new 2000 ds from a dealer who has one left. What concerns me is little problems I might have and more maintenance because of any updates the 2001 has. I would be saving around $800 total. What updates does the 2001 have that you guys know of? An $800 savings is nice, but not if you have even little problems. Any help from all you ds owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As from what I've been told, the only difference parts wise is a baffle in the carb($17 from the dealer). Now there's toe out setting and others but no other parts changes. I had the choice also, I got the 2000 model and saved $800.

There is also a change in the oil filter. The 2001 is longer.

Juvenile, where do you ride around Balwin? I went to Forest Hill for New Year's. It was nice, we got a little snow! My cousin has a 440ex and he rides any chance he gets. I'll let you know when I get it. later

Thanks for the info guys. I thought maybe there was more than that between the two. I guess the $800 would be a good deal. thanks

Juvenile, how much did you pay total for your Raptor? My buddy John at Mid-South said they were going for $6495 plus $300 freight and setup plus tax. About $7,300 out the door. The Bombardier dealers are going to have to deal more on the ds650 with the Raptor out, so I guess that's good for anyone looking at a ds!

tntjerry; thats about right on the price. I went to Midsouth last week and saw a blue Raptor. Service guy told me that the Blk/White ones are in demand. So, the blue one is on the showroom floor.

There is more IF the DS was manufactured 11/99 and the dealer hasn't performed the updates.

The 2001 model has a change to the oil air vent line and all the updates to the 2000 model. You could buy a used 2000 model in great condition and save even more money. New to me, would mean buying a 2001, for piece of mind.
